The Undisputed, Top Boot at World Cup 2018 So Far Is…
We are only a few days in, but which boot brand has been performing best to date at the World Cup? The answer might not surprise you, bu the way it is absolutely destroying the field might. The undisputed leader right now is the Nike Mercurial.
Of the 25 goals scored to date, a whopping 14 have been scored by players wearing either the Mercurial Vapor XII or Mercurial Superfly VI, boot released as part of the World Cup “Just Do It” pack. In case you missed it, that is over half of all the goals! We are talking Hirving Lozano, Luka Modrić, Aleksandar Kolarov, Yussuf Poulsen, Steven Zuber, Philippe Coutinho, Jose Giminez, Oghenekaro Etebo, Artem Dzyuba, Denis Cheryshev (2) and of course that Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.
It is no surprise to see Nike dominating since over 60% of players at the World Cup are wearing their boots. But to have so many goals from one single silo is pretty incredible! In fact, Nike’s only other goal came from Yury Gazinsky, who was wearing a pair of Nike Hypervenom. As the tournament goes on, the numbers are sure to change. But as it stands, there is only one obvious winner to date!
